Here at ToolsReviewer , we love our bandsaws. There is nothing quite like cutting through a solid piece of wood with ease. Since you are interested in a 14-inch bandsaw, we are going to assume that you already have a solid idea about what a bandsaw is.

We will not bore you with the details on that. Instead, we want to talk more about the intricacies of 14-inch bandsaws and the type of work you can accomplish with them. We will then dive into some reviews of what we believe are some of the best 14-inch bandsaws on the market.

When do you need a 14-inch bandsaw?

This type of bandsaw is not for a beginner. We are positive that they could use one, but they seem to be more designed for those who want something big and meaty for the ‘next stage’ in their woodworking journey. One of the major benefits of a 14” band saw is that you will be able to tackle some of the larger woodworking jobs. With a quality bandsaw, you can cut through hard wood species and thicker pieces of wood with ease. There are several reasons behind this. In part, it is down to the size of the blade. However, as you will discover shortly on as the team here at ToolsReviewer dive into the actual 14-inch bandsaw reviews, these bandsaws tend to have whopping motors. This means more power.

Manufacturers

There are a lot of bandsaw manufacturers on the market. Believe us, when we were looking for bandsaws to write about on this list, there were a lot to cycle through. Having used the individual bandsaws you find here, we are confident that these are the best of the best. Obviously, a 14-inch bandsaw is going to be a large purchase. Hopefully, it is something which is going to provide you with many years of use. We suggest that you never opt for a ‘no name’ manufacturer for this reason. The problem is that those bandsaws are just not well-made. They break on you. There is no manufacturer there to get you out of that pickle either. This means that you will not be able to replace any spare parts. You are out of pocket. We know that it is going to cost a tiny bit more to go for one of these bandsaws on this list, but go in with the mindset “buy cheap, buy twice” and you will realize that these are not that expensive at all.

Why you should read these reviews

Here at ToolsReviewer , we do not just write reviews for the fun of it. We know that a 14-inch bandsaw is going to be quite a large purchase. You need to ensure that you get the right one for the job. If you don’t, you are out a lot of money. As you go through these reviews, consider what you want in a bandsaw. Do you need it to be easy to move about? Is it going to stay rooted in position once everything is set up? What sort of price do you want to pay? We are hoping that we have covered every potential ‘base’ with this list, so everybody will be able to find their ideal bandsaw.

WEN 3966 14-INCH Two-Speed Bandsaw with Stand and Worklight

Let’s start our list with this offering from WEN. Here is a quick rundown of the specs:

  • 9.5 amp motor (no HP listed)
  • Can cut up to 8.85 inches deep and 9 34 inches wide.
  • Table bevels up to 45 degrees
  • Table size 21 1⁄2” x 15 3⁄4”
  • Operates at either 1480 FPM or 3280 FPM
  • Comes complete with 2 year warranty
  • Work light, dust port, miter gauge, fence etc. included in the box.

The WEN is one of the cheapest of bandsaws that you will find on our list. However, do not let that put you off. It is packing a real punch. Your 9.5-amp motor can be tuned to cut at a couple of different speeds, dependent on the type of work you are doing. While it does not have variable speed, this is not that much of an issue. You are only ever going to want to be cutting at a fast or a low speed anyway if you are doing ‘basic’ work and we assume that anybody who is looking to purchase the WEN bandsaw is not really looking for something that is being used daily as a vital piece of machinery.

As with most bandsaws, you can fit a variety of different thickness of blade on here. The minimum is 1/8th inch and the maximum is an inch. This enables you to cut either thick wood, or intricate curved cuts. In fact, while we are on the subject of curved cuts, you will love the fact The worklight built into the bandsaw is probably not something you will be using that often. However, it is great to have a small bit of extra illumination. The dust extraction is immensely useful, though. Couple the WEN with a decent dust extractor and you will barely see any dust floating about. We love clean operation like this!

If you are looking for a cheap 14-inch bandsaw , you will be hard-pressed to find something better than this. It comes complete with a 2-year warranty and having used WEN in the past when we have had a problem, we can vouch for their customer service team. They love to deal with problems quickly.

Ratings: Value: 5 Design: 3 Quality: 4

Pros:

  • Nice and cheap. Ideal for those who want a 14-inch bandsaw for adhoc use.
  • Surprisingly deep cut on such a cheap bandsaw. This is rare.
  • Dust extraction system is top-notch.

    Cons:

  • We are a bit dubious that WEN does not include a HP rating for their motor. We would not want to cut thicker material with this.

Grizzly G0555 The Ultimate Bandsaw, 14-Inch

Next up on our list is the Grizzly G0555. You do not see this one appear on many heavy duty 14-inch bandsaw review lists, but we love it. Here is a quick rundown of the specs: - Cast iron table measuring 14” x 14” - 1HP Motor - Cutting capacity maximum is 13 1⁄2” - Maximum cutting height is 6” - Speed: 1500 FPM and 3200 FPM - Cast iron frame - Weighs: 199lbs The maximum cutting depth on this bandsaw is a bit lower than the WEN. We do not see this as much of an issue as most people are unlikely to be cutting anything over 6” material anyway. If you are, then this is probably not going to be the bandsaw for you. It will not be able to cope. The operation of this bandsaw is incredibly smooth. This is all down to the ball bearings that guide the blade. We have used this bandsaw a fair bit, and we have read reviews from people who have used it even more than us and, honestly, we can’t see the bearings ever failing. If they do, then you get a decent warranty from Grizzly anyway.

While the power on the Grizzly is high, coming in at 1HP, you may have some difficulty cutting the harder words. Soft woods, this is going to be cutting through them like they are butter, but when you move onto the thick woods, it is going to be working at its absolute limit. This may slow down your cuts. We can’t see it reducing the lifespan of the motor, but you can never be too careful. Opt for a larger bandsaw if you are planning on cutting a lot of hardwoods. The Grizzly is ideal for those who are cutting soft woods under 6”. If you fit into that group, check it out!

Ratings: Value: 4 Design: 4 Quality: 4

Pros:

  • The motor is powerful enough for most woods.
  • Table size is huge. Makes it easier for you to work.
  • Cutting action is smooth.

    Cons:

  • Not a massive fan of the 6” maximum cutting height.

Delta 14” Metal Wood Bandsaw 1 HP with Steel Frame

Delta are one of the biggest names in the world of bandsaws. It, therefore, makes sense that we would include one of their offerings on our list of bandsaw reviews!

Here is a rundown of the specs: - 1 HP motor - 2 speeds: 1620 FPM and 3,340 FPM - Two-speed pulley system. Easy to tension. - Oversized table. Measures 15 3⁄4” x 18 7/8” - Table tilts 3 degrees left and 45 degrees right

Delta make good bandsaws. That is a given. However, there is a massive downside to this unit. Well, not that big, but big enough. There are no accessories included with it. Not even a miter gauge. Sure, most people who pick up a 14” bandsaw are probably going to have one to hand, but it would have been nice to have one in the box. Don’t let this put you off too much. Delta are one of the best companies around, just remember that you will need to pick up a few additional accessories. If you want an idea as to how decently made Delta Bandsaws are, then it is worth noting that many people have owned their Delta bandsaw for 25 years plus. In fact, the design of this one is not that different from bandsaws a couple of decades ago. This goes to show how well these things are made. People do love the oversized table on this one (already considerably larger than the other two bandsaws we have listed on this page). Most people do not really use this bandsaw for the intricate work. You can, but in our opinion it is best for ripping down hard materials quickly. If you want a bandsaw that will last you for not a lot of money at all, check out this one from Delta!

Ratings: Value: 5 Design: 4 Quality: 5

Pros:

  • We love the oversized table!
  • Easy to change the blade
  • Easy to provide tension for the blade.
  • Delta bandsaws are built to last.

Cons:

  • The left tilt of 3 degrees in abysmal. A bandsaw should have at least 7 degrees tilt, in our opinion. The only thing that lets this 14 bandsaw down on a design front.

Laguna Tools MBAND1412-175 14 X 12 Bandsaw

If you are looking for a bandsaw that you can easily cart around, then this is just the ticket. Here are the specs: - Motor: 1 3/4HP - Steel frame construction, cast iron wheels. - Resaw capacity: 12” - Throat capacity: 13 5/8” - Table tilts 45 degree right, 7 degree left. Microadjustment on the table.

This is the first bandsaw we have included on our list with wheels. We know that most people are not going to be wheeling their 14-inch bandsaw about. However, if you have a makeshift workspace and you want to stick your bandsaw into storage on occasion, then the wheels come in immensely useful. This is probably the heaviest bandsaw on this list thus far too, weighing in at a massive 267 pounds! It is probably worth pointing out that the wheels are available separately, but they are quite affordable. They have been designed specifically for this bandsaw too, which means they fit like a glove. The motor on this is huge. This makes the Laguna Tools 14-inch bandsaw ideal for ripping through those tougher pieces of wood. Although, from what we have seen when we played around with this bandsaw, it is surprisingly good at the precision work too. You do not need to worry about that blade wandering, and the table makes it incredibly easy to maneuver the wood about.

Ratings: Value: 5 Design: 4 Quality: 5

Pros:

  • You can purchase wheels to cart this around. Dedicated wheels for this unit. That is rare.
  • Massive motor. Ideal for cutting through hard and thick material.
  • The table tilt comes in surprisingly handy. We love how precise the microadjustment is.

Cons:

  • Good at precision work, but this bandsaw has been more designed for those who
  • Some people claim the ‘manual’ is not too good. Not a problem for us. May be a problem for you.

Shop FOX W1706 14” Bandsaw with Cast Iron Wheels Deluxe Aluminum Fence

Here are the specs: - Motor: 1HP. - Speed: 1500 and 3,200 FPM - Maximum cutting height: 6-inches - Cutting capacity: 13 1⁄2” - Table size: 14 inches by 14 inches - Table tilt: 45 degrees right. 10 degrees left. - Cast iron construction

The reason why we included the Fox on this list, other than the fact it is a brilliant bandsaw, is due to its large maximum cutting height. We know what you are thinking here. It is only 6”. Yes. It is. However, you can purchase a special accessory for this bandsaw which will increase the maximum cutting height to 12”, which means that it can cope with wood thicknesses that other bandsaws on this could only dream of. The miter guide included with this bandsaw is probably one of the best we have ever seen too. It allows you to cut at the most precise of angles (seriously). It is also ridiculously easy to read. Basically, if you pick this up, you won’t need to get your hands on any other accessories. Here at ToolsReviewer, we reckon that the Shop Fox W1706 bandsaw is going to be ideal for those who are ripping through thick pieces of wood. Sure, you can do the intricate work, but if you are ripping through thicker pieces of wood, then this is a godsend. In fact, couple it with the 12” extender accessory and this could replace many of the other saws you have in your workshop. Space saving!

Ratings: Value: 5 Design: 4 Quality: 4

Pros:

  • Top quality miter guide included. Among the best we have ever seen.
  • Can extend the cutting capacity if you wish. Yes. You do need to purchase an optional accessory.
  • Fantastic at ripping through thick pieces of wood.

Cons:

  • Not as good as some of the other bandsaws on the ‘precision’ front.

Jet JWBS-14DXPRO 14-INCH Deluxe Pro Band Saw Kit

If you work with woodworking equipment a lot, then you will have heard of Jet. They make some incredibly affordable tools but which still pack a punch. Just check out the specs on this thing: - Horsepower: 1.25HP - 1500 and 3000 FPM (no variable speed, sorry) - 15 x 15 inch work table. Tilt 10 degrees left. 45 degrees right. - Cutting capacity of 13.5” inches width and 12” height. There is barely a job that this bandsaw will not be able to tackle. This is all down to the fully adjustable table and the 12” maximum cutting height ‘out of the box’. The large motor ensures that this bandsaw is more than capable of cutting through the harder woods. You do not have to worry about this machine dying on you any time soon. Jet is one of the best names in the business. They know how to create fantastic machines which stand the test of time. Get your hands on this, and you will be in awe at the sold cast iron frame construction and the solid ball bearings which guide the blades (these have recently gone through a redesign) This is probably the most versatile bandsaw we have included on our list. There is nothing it can’t tackle. It truly is a joy to use. If you can’t decide what other bandsaw to pick up, choose the Jet.

Ratings: Value: 5 Design: 5 Quality: 5

Pros:

  • Can deal with just about every task you throw at it.
  • Powerful motor
  • Massive maximum cutting height

Cons:

  • JET like to tweak their designs a lot. This is a good bandsaw, but there may be a better one around the corner.
